Frog & Toad's Book Club: This group meets on the last Sunday of every month to gather in community and have casual conversations about books! During each session, the first chapter of a book with LGBTQ+ representation in addition to a children's book is read aloud and discussed. Book club sessions happen from 3 to 4 PM at the Waterloo Public Library or virtually via the website under our Linktree page.
AFFIRM Youth Group: LGBTQ+ focused youth group centered around learning and growing students’ queer identities, but also their religious identities. This group aims to create a safe space for LGBTQ+ students (middle to high school age), as well as provide an open space for community, questions, and healing. Meetings take place during the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month from 7 to 9 PM at St. Timothy's United Methodist Church.
Out & About: Monthly hangout where "community, laughter, and snacks are always welcome!" This is a dedicated time to get togther and chat, color, craft, or participate in any other relaxing activity. There is no set plan for these hangouts, just snacks and friendship! Gatherings take place on the 3rd Monday of every month from 6 to 8 PM at ThreeHouse Collaborative Campus Ministries.
Safe Zone Training: These trainings are offered to the public throughout the year as a form of education surrounding LGBTQ+ identities and related topics. Typically, the sessions are broken down into two or three parts with increasing depth and application of concepts learned. Additionally, organizations may reach out to request private training on an individual basis. For more information, visit the Safe Zone Training webpage!
