Our queer-centered book club for all ages and identities!
Do you love books? Queer books? Connecting with other readers? Or simply enjoy hearing suggestions? Frog & Toad's Book Club is the place for you!
Instead of reading a specific book each month, we encourage folks to come as they are and share whatever books you're currently reading or have read recently. We focus on bringing a variety of LGBTQ+ centered books to showcase how many exist out there! Our facilitator for the meeting reads aloud a chapter of an LGBTQ+ book with coloring pages available as well. Lastly, the club leader also picks a random children's book. As we read aloud and listen, at the end we ask the phrase, "How is this book queer?" With this discussion, we focus on the idea that all books are queer through shared values of community, helping and kind attitudes, and fluidity in our identities.
Queer book club is scheduled to meet on the last Sunday of every month from 3:00pm-4:00pm at the Waterloo Public Library, typically in the conference room on the second floor.
Frog & Toad's loves to host occasional "book reads" with a specific assigned book and meeting time for folks to discuss the novel. Our organization also provides a limited amount of free copies based on interest, so keep a look out for the next book read!
